| Client-Server Architecture |
Lecture123 @ Rutgers utilizes a client-server architecture. The client computer is the computer you use to record or playback content. The server computers are housed in the Lecture123 @ Rutgers data center and accessed over the Internet. The Presenter and Lecture123 @ Rutgers Player software programs are installed on your computer -- the client. The content that is recorded is published over the Internet to the Lecture123 @ Rutgers servers. This content repository is then accessed when viewers wish to playback content.
This client-server model does require a network connection to the Internet at times in order for various features of Lecture123 @ Rutgers to operate. Lecture123 @ Rutgers does support slower dialup modem connections for playback using streaming audio.
